Dubai Court of First Instance was told that one of the defendants, a 24-year-old Bangladeshi, convinced five maids to leave their sponsors in Ras Al Khaimah in June last year, before selling them for money to the two other Bangladeshi defendants.
The 33-year old Indonesian maid testified that she met the defendant and he convinced her to leave her sponsor for a better job.
He took her in his vehicle, with four other women, to a hotel in RAK and had sex with her.
The next day he took her to a house in Dubai.
“The man left and another two men told me that he sold me to them for Dhs4,000 and that I must work as prostitute for their benefit,” the woman said in records.
“When I refused, they locked me inside and forced me to work for three months.”
Later she became sick and they dumped her near a hospital with Dhs500 and she went to a police station and complained.
The second woman, 42, also Indonesian, testified that she was separated from the first victim in a different house and an unknown man told her that the defendant sold her but she didn’t know for how much.
“He locked me in a room when I refused to work as prostitute. When they fell asleep I managed to escape,” she said.
The other three women were left alone in the hotel in RAK and they returned back to their sponsors.
The three men denied the charge.
The case was adjourned until next month to prepare the defence.
